 Spiro Theodore Agnew
Full Name: Spiro Theodore Agnew
Born: Nov. 9, 1918 in Baltimore, Maryland
Died: Sep. 17, 1996 in Berlin, Maryland

Spiro Agnew served as Governor of Maryland before he became Vice President of the United States under Richard Nixon (1969-1973).

Commonly regarded as one of the worst vice presidents in American history, Agnew was the second vice president to resign from office and the only vice president to resign because of criminal charges. (John C. Calhoun resigned in 1832.)

Engulfed in corruption himself, Nixon became the only president to resign from office the next year. Agnew later implied that Nixon had planned on having him assassinated if he refused to resign.
