George Clinton was a soldier and statesman considered one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. He served as the fourth U.S. Vice President under Thomas Jefferson and James Madison (1805-12), becoming the only person besides John C. Calhoun to serve as Vice President under two different U.S. presidents. Clinton is also the longest-serving governor in U.S. history, representing New York from 1777-95 and 1801-04.
